FDA Recalls More Blood Pressure Medication Due to Cancer-Causing Chemical

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Aurobindo Pharma USA is recalling lots of blood pressure medication due to high levels of nitrosamine.
The New Jersey-based company initiated a recall of two lots of Quinapril and Hydrochlorothiazide in 20 milligrams and 12.5 milligram tablets due to the presence of the chemical, which is associated with a higher risk of cancer. The tablets are used to treat high blood pressure.
“Nitrosamines are common in water and foods, including cured and grilled meats, dairy products, and vegetables. Everyone is exposed to some level of nitrosamines,” according to the FDA. “These impurities may increase the risk of cancer if people are exposed to them above acceptable levels over long periods of time.”...
