The CCP is Waging War on America

Commentary
As of November 2022, over 1,070,000 Americans have reportedly died with COVID-19. This is more than the number of deaths incurred during World War II. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) covered up the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and its possible ties to a lab leak in Wuhan, China. Meanwhile, China is supporting regimes like Russia and the Taliban and ramping up its military presence in the Taiwan Strait.
At the height of the global crisis, why is the CCP expanding its military and aggressively preparing for war? Is the pandemic an international public health crisis or an act of world war? The EpochTV documentary "The Final War" provides answers to these questions. With the help of CCP insiders, award-winning investigative reporter for The Epoch Times Joshua Philipp uncovers the true intentions of the CCP, tracing back to the origins of the Communist Party and its 100-year plot to destroy the United States....

Kevin McCarthy: Debt Limit Should Be Treated 'Like Our Own Household'

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) previewed Republicans’ strategy regarding how to handle the U.S. debt limit after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the limit will be reached next week.
Analysts say the debt ceiling battle will turn into a political showdown, with some Republicans tying raising the debt limit with other provisions. Some said that a debt limit deal should include spending cuts.
"What I really think we would do is treat this like we would treat our own household. If you had a child, you gave them a credit card, and they kept hitting the limit, you wouldn't just keep increasing it. You'd first see what you're spending your money on. How can we cut items out?" McCarthy told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures." "Every government has to do this. Every state has to balance their budget, county, city. For the White House to say they won't even look at it, that they can't find one penny out of $1 of eliminating waste, I think they're just trying to put us into bankruptcy."...

Sitting All Day? A New Study Finds a Relatively Easy Way to Counteract It

To reduce the harmful health effects of sitting, take a five-minute light walk every half-hour. That's the key finding of a new study that my colleagues and I published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.
We asked 11 healthy middle-aged and older adults to sit in our lab for eight hours – representing a standard workday – over the course of five separate days. On one of those days, participants sat for the entire eight hours with only short breaks to use the bathroom. On the other days, we tested a number of different strategies to break up a person's sitting with light walking. For example, on one day, participants walked for one minute every half-hour. On another day, they walked for five minutes every hour....

Republicans Introduce Resolution to Stop Non-Citizens From Voting in DC Local Elections

Top Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate have introduced a joint resolution to prevent a law that allows non-citizens the right to vote in the District of Columbia's local elections, from going into effect.
Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-Ky.) introduced H. J. Res. 17 to challenge the D.C. Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act and prevent its implementation.
"Voting is a pillar of American democracy and a constitutional right that undeniably needs to be protected and preserved for citizens of this country," Comer said in a Jan. 12 press statement. "The D.C. Council's reckless decision to allow non-U.S. citizens and illegal immigrants the right to vote in local elections is an attack on the foundation of this republic."...

Master the Dancefloor: A Gentleman's Guide to Ballroom Etiquette—From a Classic Manual on Manners

The following is an excerpt from “The Gentlemen’s Book of Etiquette, and Manual of Politeness” by Cecil B. Hartley, published by Locke & Bubier in 1875.
OF all the amusements open for young people, none is more delightful and more popular than dancing. Lord Chesterfield, in his letters to his son, says: “Dancing is, in itself, a very trifling and silly thing; but it is one of those established follies to which people of sense are sometimes obliged to conform; and then they should be able to do it well. And, though I would not have you a dancer, yet, when you do dance, I would have you dance well, as I would have you do everything you do well.” In another letter, he writes: “Do you mind your dancing while your dancing master is with you? As you will be often under the necessity of dancing a minuet, I would have you dance it very well. Remember that the graceful motion of the arms, the giving of your hand, and the putting off and putting on of your hat genteelly, are the material parts of a gentleman’s dancing. But the greatest advantage of dancing well is, that it necessarily teaches you to present yourself, to sit, stand, and walk genteelly; all of which are of real importance to a man of fashion.”...

Prioritize Human Connection in the New Year

We live in a crazy world where we get into heated debates with strangers on the internet and show we like stuff by pressing tiny digital hearts. Who came up with this weirdness? And as we have more and more digital interactions, the data shows we're losing actual human connection. A report by Harvard suggests that about 36 percent of Americans (including 51 percent of mothers with small children and 61 percent of young adults) experience "serious loneliness."
And even though we tend to see independence as a strength, the stress of disconnection contributes to a ton of issues, including substance abuse, anxiety, depression and heart disease. Those are some pretty high stakes—which is why we need to do what we can to change those statistics. Here's what we all need to know about human connection and how to achieve it....

Kentucky Halts No. 5 Tennessee's 25-Game Home Win Streak

Antonio Reeves scored a team-high 18 points off the bench and Oscar Tshiebwe recorded his 50th career double-double as visiting Kentucky stunned No. 5 Tennessee 63–56 Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, Tenn.
Tshiebwe scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the unranked Wildcats (11–6, 2–4 Southeastern Conference), who came into the game as significant underdogs after losing their previous two games.
Reeves’ free throws with 12.9 seconds left gave the Wildcats a 61–56 cushion, and Jacob Toppin, who was a game-time decision after a shoulder injury, added two more free throws for the final points. CJ Fredrick also finished in double figures for the Wildcats with 13 points.
The loss ended a 25-game home winning streak for the Vols (14–3, 4–1 SEC), who got a huge game out of Uros Plavsic (career-high 19 points)....

How to Cook Shrimp in an Air Fryer

If there’s one appliance that everyone wants in their kitchen, it’s an air fryer. The gadget can cook everything from vegetables to dessert and it’s often used to cook crowd favorites, like chicken wings and fries. But shrimp? Could that be too daring? Not a chance. This garlic shrimp takes just four minutes to cook in the air fryer and is absolutely delicious.
Seafood lovers rejoice! You’re not out of the air fryer game just yet. It may seem odd to toss proteins like shrimp and salmon into a magical device that cooks it in minutes, but it is possible. If you’re working with frozen shrimp be sure to thaw them before cooking....

'Anecdotals' Documentary

A previously healthy 12-year-old who can no longer walk. A surgeon whose career is over. A woman who can no longer cook or clean. These adverse reactions are real, not rare – here’s how they’re shaming and abandoning them, while hiding their stories.

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

The film "Anecdotals" provides a glimpse into the lives of people who have suffered significant adverse reactions from COVID-19 shots
Those who spoke out about their shot-related injuries have been shamed, ridiculed and labeled unethical
Those injured by the shots have been largely abandoned by the mainstream medical community; their medical issues have been politicized, while society provides no empathy
With no programs in place to help those injured by COVID-19 shots, and many doctors afraid to even acknowledge the shot's connection to patients' symptoms, many of those harmed have nowhere to turn for help
The film calls for an open dialogue and a movement from humanity to acknowledge the risks of COVID-19 shots, as well as those who are suffering due to them

People who have been harmed by COVID-19 shots have suffered a range of medical issues — everything from death and permanent disability to pericarditis, nerve damage and overwhelming fatigue. While their symptoms vary, they share several common themes:...

Shen Yun Is a Whole Historical Portrayal of Human Emotions and Experiences, Says CFO

OXFORD, UK—China has about 5,000 years of history and culture, and to encapsulate it all of it in a two-hour performance is no easy feat. Yet that is exactly what Shen Yun Performing Arts does for its audiences.
Mel Zuydam, chief financial officer with a government agency, was impressed with the portrayal of Chinese civilization he saw in Shen Yun at the New Theatre on Jan. 15.
"It was a mixture of excitement, passion, love, peace and harmony all in one," said Mr. Zuydam. "I felt the stories were exploring the breadth of human emotion. The wonder of the stories is that [they] date back so far in history. It (Shen Yun) is a whole historical portrayal of all of those human emotions and experiences in the world. I find that fantastic and just so beautifully performed."...
