President Joe Biden has blasted the sale of semi-automatic firearms, saying it "has no social redeeming value."
The comment was made when he was visiting a fire station on Nantucket Island during his Thanksgiving break on Nov 24.
"The idea [that] we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. Just sick," Biden told the press.
"It has no, no social redeeming value. Zero."
He further contended that only weapon manufacturers benefit from weapon trading.
"Not a single solitary rationale for it, except profit for the gun manufacturers," the president said.
