Michelle Steel Tops Jay Chen in Battle for House Seat

Incumbent Republican Michelle Steel holds the lead over her Democrat opponent Jay Chen in the race for California’s 45th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to preliminary midterm election results.
Steel is currently leading with 54.8 percent of the vote over her opponent Chen with 45.2 percent, in the recently redrawn district that straddles the counties of Orange and Los Angeles, according to unofficial results posted by the California Secretary of State on the evening of Nov. 8.
Previously Steel was an Orange County Supervisor and has served on the California State Board of Equalization. She defeated beat former U.S. Rep Harley Rouda in the 48th district in 2020....
